Sparkle Photo Editor · Last updated October 3, 2026
Sparkle Photo Editor ("Sparkle," "we," "us"), operated by Jaxus Labs LLC, turns your photos into camera-look
renditions, and fixes a photo you already have (Retake) using AI image generation.
This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can delete it.
Information we collect
- Account information. An email address, and either a password
(stored as a one-way bcrypt hash, never in plain text) or your Apple ID's relay
email and Apple's stable user identifier if you sign in with Apple.
- Photos you submit for a camera-look filter. The original photo
you choose and the generated result. Both are stored on our server until you
delete them or delete your account.
- Photos you submit for Retake. The source photo you pick to fix,
and the results Retake generates from it. The photo briefly passes through a
face-detection step (locating where your face is in the frame, not identifying who
you are) before the edit runs. See "Third parties" below for who processes it.
- Your AI Profile photos (optional). If you add photos of yourself
to your AI Profile, we keep a cropped copy of just the face from each one - never
the full photo. They have one purpose: when you use Retake, they are sent along with
the photo being fixed so the result still looks like you. They are used only for
your own Retakes, are never shown to anyone else, and are never used to train any
AI model. We do not use them to recognize or identify you. You can remove any of
them at any time from Profile → AI Profile (tap the ✕ on a photo),
which deletes it from our server immediately, and deleting your account deletes
all of them.
- Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we store a
device token (via Apple/Expo's push service) so we can tell you when a photo
you're waiting on is ready. If you allow notifications, we may also send occasional
promotional notifications about new looks and offers; you can turn those off anytime in
Profile → Promo notifications.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription,
managed for us by RevenueCat. We never see or store your card number — Apple
handles payment directly.
We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not sell your data.
Third parties we share data with
- OpenAI — processes the photo you submit, for both filters and
Retake, to generate the result. For Retake, it also receives your AI Profile face
photos, if you have added any, as part of the same request.
- Replicate — locates the face in a photo you submit (for a
camera look, for Retake, or added to your AI Profile), a single automated step
(drawing a box around it) that does not identify who you are. For camera looks this
lets us keep your real face in the result. It does not train, store, or keep any
model of your face.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status and receipt
validation with Apple on our behalf.
- Apple — handles Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, and
push notification delivery.
- Fly.io — hosts our backend server and database.
Each of these providers only receives what they need to do the job above, and is
bound by its own privacy and data-handling terms. The app asks your permission before
the first photo is sent to OpenAI or Replicate; if you decline, nothing is sent.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and your photos for as long as your account exists.
You can delete everything at any time from Profile → Delete Account
inside the app. This immediately and permanently deletes your account record and
every photo and generation associated with it from our server. It does not cancel an
active App Store subscription — that's managed separately through Apple, in the App
Store app under your Apple ID.
Children
Sparkle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
information from children under 13.
Photos of other people
Only submit a photo to Sparkle if you have the right to do so — your own photo, or
one you have permission to use. Do not submit a photo of someone else without their
consent, particularly for Retake, which edits a face in the photo. You are responsible
for the photos you submit. See our
Acceptable Use Policy for the full rules, including a
strict, zero-exception ban on submitting any photo of anyone under 18 to Retake.
Your choices
- Delete your account and all associated data any time, in-app.
- Decline notification permissions — the app works fully without them.
- Contact us with any privacy question at the address below.
Changes to this policy
